The Maldon Minstrel Award is a special event for budding solo singer-songwriters (aged up to 25yrs) to demonstrate their ability to tell a story with their own music in a purely acoustic venue.
Judging is by live performance in a Sunday morning concert. Entrants will have 10 minutes to demonstrate their writing and performing skills to the judges.
More than one song is expected to be presented, although this is not obligatory. All songs must be original and written by the performer. Lyric sheets are not required and there is no entry fee.
The winner will receive the Maldon Minstrel Award prize plaque, and a guaranteed solo gig (two 45min sets @ $250 fee + travel expenses) at the following years’ festival. (See Musicians Australia for fee details.)
Contest coordinators: Dave Miller and Lyn Kirby.
How to Enter
Entry is at the Festival office from 9:30am on the Saturday of the festival and only the first ten entries will be accepted. No entries will be accepted prior to that time.
